About this item
- Choose a planting location: Aster divaricatus prefers partial to full shade and moist, well-drained soil. It can tolerate some dryness, but it does best in soil that is consistently moist.
- Water the seeds: Gently water the soil after planting to settle the seeds into the soil. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged, during the germination process.
- Prepare the soil: Clear any debris and weeds from the planting area and work the soil to a depth of 6-8 inches. Add compost or other organic matter if the soil is poor.
- Germination: Aster divaricatus seeds usually sprout within a timeframe of 2 to 4 weeks, but this process may extend beyond that period. After the seedlings have developed, thin them to ensure they are approximately 18 inches apart.
- Sow the seeds: Scatter the seeds over the prepared soil, aiming for a spacing of about 18 inches apart. Lightly cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil (no more than 1/8 inch thick).
